Historically, There Is a Home Court Advantage For Michigan State

Michigan State will be playing North Carolina in the National Championship game in Detroit. The Spartans are the first team to play a title game in their own state since Duke in 1994.

That year, Duke lost to Arkansas in Charlotte. That is the only time a team lost an NCAA Tournament championship game in their home state.

UCLA won three of its titles (1968, 1972, 1975) while playing in California. Two of those titles were won at the LA Sports Arena ... which was UCLA's home court. The 1975 title was won down the road at San Diego. NC State won the 1974 tournament in Greensboro.

So the team playing in its home state is 4-1 in title games.
