On SportsBloggersLive this Thursday, many people will be coming in and commenting on their sport's most hated people. I got NCAA hoops. So, to do my part, I am asking you....the readers....to vote for whom you hate the most. Below are some from my list....but if you have something different...feel free to add it.
For players, only JJ Redick and Adam Morrison come to mind. No one is hated like Redick...and there are a few haters out there for Morrison. Also, Gerry McNamara and Kevin Pittsnogle are candidates. But, check out them all and vote in the comments section.
J.J. REDICK, DUKE: What can I say that hasn't already been said? He, of course, represents the Great White Dookie...which seems to always arouse hate [just ask Danny Ferry, Christian Laettner, Bobby Hurley, Cherokee Parks and Wojo....and soon, Josh McRoberts]. I mean, no one hated Grant Hill, Elton Brand, Johnny Dawkins or Chris Duhon like that. No one gets the kind of verbal punishment that this guy gets on the road and no one gets the kind of defensive attention in the nation that he gets.
ADAM MORRISON, GONZAGA. Sure, he is not Redick...so he's got a bit more friends. But many people smack him down because he's playing Portland, Santa Clara and San Diego night in and night out. Also, he's got the worst porn-stache inyears. Looks like the kinda stache Kip Dynamite had in "Napolean Dynamite".
MIKE KRZYZEWSKI, DUKE: Carolina fans hate him...but I really didn't think he was despised nationally. Well, thanks to American Express...he is. As the Fuhrer of the Duke Machine he takes the brunt of most of the Duke hating. The players change, but he's always there. And his AMEX recruiting video....errrrrrrr.....commercial .....was played so much during last year's tournament that you though he was running for President.
BOBBY KNIGHT, TEXAS TECH: Ah, Coach K's mentor. Why hate him? Well, he bullied the administration at Indiana until they canned him. Then, at Texas Tech, he'll walk out of an interview if you bring Indiana up....saying it is "the past". But, when he needs some pub, he'll name drop the school and crack on them any chance he gets. He hates the media being up in his business....but then starts a reality show. But he loves his players. Well, when he isn't choking them, whipping them, slapping them or turning his back on them.
MIKE DAVIS, INDIANA: Knight's replacement at Indiana. From experience, I know there are two types of Hoosier fans. Fans that support the program no matter what....and fans who want to see the Hoosiers fail just to get Davis gone. Well, the latter won. The divide in Indiana was so great, that Davis is stepping down at the end of the season. A shame, since he's taken his team to the NCAA title game [Knight's last one was in 1987] and was able to bring in talent to the program.
GENO AURIEMMA, UCONN LADY HUSKIES: Since the rules were "college hoops athletes/coaches"....I have to put ol' Geno on there. He's disliked due to his cockiness and brashness [my fave was calling Tennessee the Evil Empire]. And, also, that he's a dude that successful in the women's game. Many people say "well, if you are such a good coach....why not come over to the men's side and try it???"
RICK PITINO, LOUISVILLE: I know that everyone in Kentucky that ain't a Cards fan hate Pitino. So does a lot of America. While some coaches look and act like coaches....Pitino looks like a car salesman. With his coif, sharp suits and pinky ring...he'd make a great boxing promoter.
DICK VITALE, DUKE: Okay a cheap shot...but he is just as important to college hoops as most players or coaches are. Vitale isn't the same anymore....he's become a caricature of himself. His "catchphrases" aren't catchy anymore. And though his love for the game is undeniable....he just rubs people the wrong way.

Vitale can get annoying with his Duke cheerleading, but he'll never be the pompous know-it-all that Billy Packer is in my eyes. Packer clearly has forgotten more about basketball than most people will ever know. The problem is that he also realizes this. Maybe it's just me, but there are times where he comes off as pompous and elitist.
Is it just me, or am I the only person that noticed that 7 out of the 8 players/coaches you picked were white guys....hell, why dont you just chunk in rookie of the year Tyler from UNC and call it a day....
I'd have to excuse myself for voting, as Pitino wrecked my favorite team in the 1990s.
