The 7th Floor Crew

Who says media thumbs their noses at bloggers??

ESPN.com has thrown up a story about the University of Miami's "7th Floor Crew", named after the seventh floor of the Mahoney Residential College, campus housing at Miami.  And apparantly one blogger, inadvertantly, broke the whole thing.

Two years, some friends of them, asked the 7th Floor to write some MC rhymes.  The rhymes went this way:  a nine minutes song featuring multiple acts of group sex, derogatory terms for women and minorities and dozens of nasty words.

Apparantly, the song was on the Down Low....but a blogger, Miamity  broke it into the world [apparantly Miamity is a student at the U of Miami and now fears repercussions from, well, the entire student body].  Someone, somewhere ran with it....and now ESPN has a hold of it.  Since it has broken out, Miamity has pulled the song from their blog.  They've gotten madd heat about it.

USCFAN said on Miamity's website:  "Way to try and save your ass now. Best of luck with that."
WKHAN:  "Use some common sense before you post other people's work. If they had meant for it to be released to the public they would have done it themselves!"
CANE FAN IN RHODE ISLAND:  "This is all that is being talked about on talk radio up here. If it is all over the radio waves in RI, then it has to be everywhere! Now you have forced the University to do something to save face through this whole scandal, and I use that word loosly.  Bottomline, the players are idiots for taping this but you take the cake by making it public. Be prepared to become the hitting dumby for the entire team, campus, hell I hate you and I am 1000 miles away!"

Miamity's response is "Honestly I don't care enough about this fake scandal anymore to hold onto principal to keep this up. It's a song from 2 years ago, and isn't relavant to anything. Most of the players involved are probablygone. Right now we have an awesome team that seems pretty well behaved from what I've seen. I think it's ridiculous that ESPN is covering this as actual news."

Yet, the story is pulled.

The very next sentence, he pulls a punch on out friends at Deadspin [The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Shuffle - Deadspin].  So now it is blogger vs blogger.

And the saddest part is the fact that this is spreading like wildfire around the blogging world...even to the point that people are commentingthat bloggers [now including me] are keeping this story alive and screwing with these guys lives [The FANLESS Story So Far....].  Um, I don't record songs about me and my boys passing coeds around the floor of my dorm.  I just laugh at them.

Ya wanna listen to the song????  Click here:  Putfile - 7th Floor Crew.  A great diddy about how much "deez hos" want some of the football players "pipe".  I laughed at Big Nick's part....and T-Buck's part.  Quite horrible to listen to if you have a daughter attending the U.  I guess "that's how it goes down on the 7th floor."

C'mon...this is Miami.  Home of Luther Campbell, Trina and Trick Daddy.  They've essentially taken New Orleans' spot as the #1 spot in America for Girls Gone Wild chicks.  And whether this is a news story or not can be debated.  It is a song written and recorded by...who really knows.  If it was football players, I'm sure the NCAA will find out if studio time was given to the players for free.  Should it push the major news off the page??  Probably not.  But, bloggers aren't journalists....we "report" the non-news and then smack on the real news.  We spoof these stories.  Right Mr. Armstrong?

But nothing....NOTHING....is better than seeing on ESPN.com, Pat Forde typing that the song "is about their shared All-American past-time of gangbangin' bizzatches.  Or, as one member of the 7th Floor Crew so delicately put it, "We 'bout to run a seven-man train all up in you."

CLASSIC!!!

This makes twice in about 10 days that blogging has been the root of a major underground sports saga.  It was the Carolina Panthers cheerleaders messing around in a Tampa bathroom.  Now it is "Debbie Does Miami".  Soon Jay Leno will craft a series of jokes about this instance.  It may be parodied somewhere.  Anyone who works on the 7th floor of any building will start dubbing themselves the 7TH FLOOR CREW.  Cats and dogs, living together!!!  Mass hysteria!!!!

More to come on this, I am sure.

If they don't win a Grammy, they should alter the awards so that they do... "Best Student-Athlete Song."

Wow, talk about not being bright. I'm not sure what this Miamity guy was thinking. I can think of about five things I know of that are common knowledge to any BC student that goes on here, but I don't because I can understand what the reprucussions will be if it makes news. Stupid is the only word to describe this guy.
