Happy Easter, Everybody!

It is nearly 3am right now....and "Hank the Easter Bunny" [as he is known in my house] will soon be making his hippity-hop to my house any minute.  So, while I got some time before his arrival....lemme just throw some takes out there.

CAN WE LET THE MAGIC IN?  I wish the NBA could do what the NCAA does and just pick teams to be in the playoffs.  If they could, then they'd be picking the Orlando Magic.  Orlando is still alive, but has little chance to make the playoffs [they need to win out and have Chicago to lose out....with Philly also stumbling].  But, Orlando has won 8 straight....including 12 in a row at the O-rena.

Dwight Howard is one of the best young players in the NBA and could become the next dominant big man.  He dumped in 28 pts and corralled 26 boards to beat fellow playoff fiend Philly.  I'd also like to see the Magic get in.....since Steve Francis whined his way out of town and the team is performing better without him.

With Indiana [boring], Milwaukee [really boring] and Chicago [don't really care to see 'em] ahead of them.....why not just let the Magic get in and put a bit of pressure on the Pistons in the 1st round.  Why not?

BARRY BONDS:  I'm not gonna rehash all that's going on with him....you can go to any sports website to find that out.  But, here is my takes on Bonds.

A-I think he's a great player.  The greatest player of my lifetime.
B-He is a Hall Of Fame player with his resume before all this happened.
C-He's a jerk.
D-His jerk-ness both helps and hurts him.
E-I believe he used steroids.
F-But, his stats should stay.  No astericks.
G-He should just walk away.

I was against this last statement....but now with the Feds on his butt, it might be the best thing for everyone if Bonds just went ahead and shut 'er down.  If he doesn't want to look like the fuzz got to him.....just do the ol' "my knee hurts", sit on the DL, and just never play again.  Ya know, the same way that Pete Rose retired.

Bonds sitting at 3rd place on the all time HR list with these allegations won't be as bad as passing Babe Ruth or Hank Aaron with the allegations.

LOVE THAT EARLY BASEBALL:  Right now, Milwaukee and Cincinnati are tied atop the NL Central......the Colorado Rockies lead the NL West.....and the Baltimore Orioles are a the AL Wildcard leader.  By the way....Washington fans, this is what they meant by "getting the Expos".

UFC 59:  Sorry, but when your event gets to the 59th volume....it's time just to drop the numbers.  Especially if you are the UFC.  By the way, this just scares me that the Super Bowl 59 could just peeve me off the same way.

MIKE MONTGOMERY SHOULD BE FIRED:  It is not so much that he cannot coach [he can't on this level]...but the fact that Chris Mullin has screwed him with personnel.  He held on too tight for some pieces [Mike Dunleavy] and made a few bad jumps on new guys [Baron Davis].  This was supposed to be the year that G-State would finally make the playoffs after a 12 year drought [Mullin played on the last Warriors team to be in the postseason].  Montgomery was a pretty good coach at Stanford....and did a great job building that program.  But at Stanford, you are dealing with smart kids who want to be there.....not smuggy players who are cashing checks on their way to somewhere else.  If Mullin was a good guy, he would've canned Monty a few months ago and let him have a shot at getting a good job back in the NCAA.

RICK ADELMAN SHOULDN'T BE FIRED:  As much as I dislike the man, he just keeps making the playoffs.  The problem with the Kings during their current "golden era" is that they are soft.  The Lakers pushed them around before and everyone else followed suit.  They were known as chokers and crybabies.  And this year they got off to a horrid start that looked like a possible end to Adelman's reign.  Then they got Ron Artest.  Not only has Artest invigorated the team....but he's given the whole franchise an edge.  While everyone else may still be soft....ol' Ronny has got their backs.  And give credit to Adelman in climatizing Artest into the team culture while still keeping him under his thumb.  And while Sacto will probably flame out in the first round....just getting there is quite an accomplishment.

LARRY BROWN DESERVES TO HAVE HIS HALL OF FAME MEMBERSHIP REVOKED:  Okay, a bit harsh....but he should give a little bit of that bank back he got from the Knicks.  How can a team with waaaaaay more payroll than anyone else be so bad?  I mean, the worst-team-in-the-NBA bad.  Yes, Isiah Thomas did this to the franchise....but it's not like this roster is horrible.  Just the chemistry.  And that is why they are paying you $10M per year, Larry!

But the NY Roster IS that bad!

Orlando has been surging since dealing Francis, NY has almost no rebounding, no defense, are playing overmatched rookies for the most part now with Frye injured, and the loss of Marbury eliminated the one player on the roster that could keep them at least on occasion competitive.  Jamal Crawford is on one of his hot streaks which have never lasted and don't look like they'll start to any time soon.  And with Marbury talking as if he's given up on the system (possibly the second biggest mistake of his career behind leaving Minnesota should he actually revert to his old form next year), this looks like it could get even worse next season.  Did Coach Brown do a good job?  No, far from it, but this situation is far more dire than mere chemistry issues.
