Just Some Fun Sportz Questions

If you could go back into time….before you were born….and get front row tickets to any sporting event, what would it be??

How about an event during your lifetime??

What future sporting event would you want to see?

If you could match up any two teams from any different eras in the same sport…..who would they be?

Who would you root for in a Cubs-Red Sox World Series??

What is your favorite sports movie of all time?

Besides basketball….what event would you dream of competing in for the Olympics??

If you had the opportunity of going to the Super Bowl, the Game 7 of the World Series, NBA Finals or Stanley Cup Finals…..which game would you go to?

If you could own, for personal uses….not financial, any three autographs….which 3 would they be?

If you could have any pitcher come in and pitch the bottom of the 9th for you, who would you call in there?

What is the most memorable sporting moment that you saw on TV?

What is the most memorable sporting moment that you were actually at the venue?

Kevin Garnett or Tim Duncan??

Dan Marino or John Elway??

Which team would you rather own, the Yankees, Lakers or Cowboys?

Which team would you rather own, the Clippers, Devil Rays or Arizona Cardinals??

What city that doesn’t already have an NBA, NFL or MLB team deserves one?

Who has the ugliest sports uniform??

NASCAR: “great American sport” or “rednecks making left turns”??

Biggest draft bust: Pervis Ellison, Ryan Leaf or Todd Van Poppel??

Race horses…..athletes or not?

If the NHL folds after the current CBA ends…..would you care?

What is your favorite sports movie of all time?  Bull Durham.

Besides basketball….what event would you dream of competing in for the Olympics??  Decathalon.

If you had the opportunity of going to the Super Bowl, the Game 7 of the World Series, NBA Finals or Stanley Cup Finals…..which game would you go to?  It depends on who is playing.  In the blind, I'd pick the Super Bowl because it's the best party.

Kevin Garnett or Tim Duncan??  Dan Marino or John Elway??  Duncan and Elway.  They won in the post-season on a regular basis.

Which team would you rather own, the Yankees, Lakers or Cowboys?  Which team would you rather own, the Clippers, Devil Rays or Arizona Cardinals??  Yankees and Clippers.

What city that doesn’t already have an NBA, NFL or MLB team deserves one?  None.

Biggest draft bust: Pervis Ellison, Ryan Leaf or Todd Van Poppel??  Ryan Leaf.  Ellison actually had a 20 PPG season in the NBA.  Van Poppel was just a high school phenom, and he has spent a lot more time in the majors than most high school draft picks.  Leaf's career stats: 25 games, 21 starts, 14 TDs, 36 Interceptions.

.1. Probably the '36 Munich Games. Watching sports and politics mixing badly would fascinate me.

.2. The '76 Games to watch Nadia Comaneci--first gymnast to ever make a perfect 10.

.3. John Stockton's induction to the NBA Hall of Fame.

.4. Got to be the Celtics in their prime and the Magic-era Lakers.

.5. Wouldn't root for either one. Oh, all right, if you need a choice, I guess I go with Boston just because they're an East Coast team--and because nobody's tried to make them the loveable cutesy underdogs.

.6. Sailing or dressage, probably sailing

.7. NBA Finals, no question

.8. Kobe Bryant, Jim Thorpe, Ilie Nastase

.9. No idea, sorry

.10. That poor skiing bastard who was the picture accompanying the words, "...and the agony of defeat" on ABC's "Wid World of Sports."

.11. Stockton's 3-point shot to beat Houston and send Utah to the Finals for the first time.

.12. ICK. Neither. I have to choose? Garnett, I guess; anybody but Duncan.

.13. Marino

.14. Lakers, definitely.

.15. Cardinals.

.16. Las Vegas

.17. No idea.

.18. “rednecks making left turns”

.19. Who?

.20. Of course.

.21. Yes. I'd miss the Penguins and Caps.

3.  Summer Olympics wirth men competing naked again.

4.  Any NBA team againstthe 80s Lakers to finally shuyt up the ignorant haters.

6.  Raging Bull.

7.  Track and field short running events that don't include HURDLES.

9.  NBA FInals!

10.  Mohammed Ali, Magic Johnson and Arthur Ashe.

11.  Not a baseball fan....so I'll go with Sandy Koufax.

12.  Bob Beamon's jump in 1968.....closely followed by the Japanese gymnast who did his still ring routine and nailed the landing with a broken leg to secure the team medal.

13.  Game 5 of the 1980 NBA Finals where Kareem went down with a sprained ankle, setting up the unforgettable game 6 in Philly.

I forgot that I didn't even give my takes on this...

1. Toss up between the Hitler Games with Jesse Owens winning the gold...or the 1957 NCAA Championship game between North Carolina and Wilt's Kansas team.  That game went to THREE overtimes, just two nights after the Heels won the semifinal game in 3 overtimes.

2.  In my lifetime....I'd go to to Lake Placid for the semifinal game between USSR and USA.  Ya know...The Miracle On Ice.

3.  The 2012 Olympics in New York

4.  I'd match up the 1927 Yankees against the 1976 Reds.

5.  I'd root for the Cubs over the Bosox

6.  My favorite sports movie.....well, Caddyshack, technically.  But movie solely about sports I'd say the Natural

7.  100m

8.  If the Lakers were there....the NBA Finals.  If it is just some advanced thing, I'd take the Super Bowl

9.  Magic Johnson, Muhammad Ali and Darrell Green

10.  Randy Johnson

11.  Kirk Gibson's home run in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series.

12.  Kobe Bryant hitting a game winner in the finals LA Lakers v Charlotte Hornets matchup in Charlotte.

13.  Garnett

14.  Uh....Elway.  Both had pretty good receivers....and I always wondered what Marino would have done with a great RB behind him.  Then I realized that Elway went to 3 Super Bowls with no one behind him.

15.  Lakers, obviously

16.  Well...all are sunny weathered teams.  The Clippers would be better to own, profit-wise.

17.  Las Vegas

18.  Well...the new Utah Jazz unis look bad.  The Buffalo Bills new uniforms are pretty bad, too.

19.  Rednecks

20.  Easily, Leaf.

21.  Well, horses train like a human athlete would.....but they don't get to make the decision to do what they want like an athlete would.  So, horses are similar to the Chi

FROM JOHNNYSEE

David slays Goliath!

"Do you believe in miracles?"  USA Hockey beating Russia.

Kobe, dunking repeatedly right in Shaq's grill, to win the title and finals MVP for the Lakers in about nine or so months.

I need to give this a lot more thought for a real answer, but just for the hell of it, I'll say the 1970 NY Knicks vs. the 2003/4 Detroit Pistons (for the record, I believe the Knicks would destroy the Detroit).

Who cares?

Raging Bull.

Gymnastics if only because in my wildest dreams I couldn't pull off a single thing they do without causing severe personal injury to myself and anyone within a ten yard radius of whatever equipment I'm abusing at the moment.

NBA Finals... duh!

Walt Frazier, Willis Reed and Red Holzman.

Kevin Costner, so long as I've got script approval.

There are 3: Kobe to Shaq vs. Portland for THE DUNK! in 2000, Horry's 3 vs, the Kings, and the Knicks in 69 or 70, coming back from 5 points down vs the Royals with under 10 seconds on the clock and the Royals with posession out of bounds.

Knicks beat Celtics in game 3 of the Finals in 69 (?)... memorable not so much for anything - other than the win - that happened in the game - as for the fact that I got down on the court afterwards and stood next to Willis Reed, Bill Russel and Howard Cosell who was interviewing 'em at the time.

You mean they're not the same person?  But seriously, i'll take Kevin, by and large, but in crunch time, I'd probably go with Tim.

Joe Namath.  (Sorry.)

Lakers.

Clips.

Intercourse, Pennsylvania, just for headlines like "Intercourse gets Screwed in Opener."

Those tinfoil unis Cuban forced the Mavs to wear for a game last year.

Beer Ad!

Me in 1973 (my number was something like 4 - three days later, Nixon cancelled the Draft)

Animal!

What does "NHL" and "CBA" stand for again

FROM JROWE

Lou Gehrig's farewell speech

The 1982 Cal game that ended with the marching band on the field

Lakers and Heat in game 7 of the Finals

The 1972 Lakers and the 1996 Bulls

Neither one.

Tie betwen Pride of the Yankees and Brian's Song

I'd say hockey, because it'd be a dream to stay on skates.

Tough call, probably the Stanley Cup Finals.

Sandy Koufax, Jackie Robinson, Babe Ruth

Eric Gagne

That may be a tie between Wayne Gretzky's 803rd goal to break Gordie Howe's record and the Miracle on Ice with Al Michael's call.

Haven't experienced that.

Garnett, with Duncan a close second.

Marino (Super Bowl victories notwithstanding)

Lakers

Yikes! Okay, I'll go with the Clippers

Have no idea

Haven't paid attention

Not sure

Ryan Leaf, mainly because I know more about his infamy

I'd say yes. Who can outrun a horse?

Yeah, been a fan since 1970 like with the other sports.

- I'd go back in time to see Bobby Orr play...he is a legend around here, and I never saw him play.

- The Bowe/Holyfield fight where the Fan Man crashed in the crowd.

- I'd like to see life sentence prisoners hunted.

- Larry's Celtics vs Russell's Celtics...winner gets Argentina

- Red Sox, of course

- All The Marbles

- I'd worry about infidelity less if I were a Rhythmic(?) Gymnast

- World Series, Game 7, at Fenway

- Ali, Sharapova, Jordan

- I always thought Nolan Ryan had a big set.

- Once, I walked into a room and turned on the game...just as Kirk Gibson was limping up to bat. I watched 2 minutes of a 3 hour game, ad I saw the best part.

- I was at a Celtics/Sixers preseason game...there was a huge fight...and Red Auerbach walked onto the court and went after Moses Malone...at one point calling him a "schvatzer."

- KG is younger, and would fill more seats. Duncan should be a Celtic, btw...

- Elway was a winner

- I'd never be at a loss for drugs if I owned the Cowboys.

- I could turn the Clippers around...I'd move them somewhere, though.

- Las Vegas

- Yellow Boston Bruins shirts

- NASCAR is cool....not my cup of te, but if that many people like it, it must kick somebody's ass.

- Leaf blew like Tuba.

- Horses are athletes....jockeys are passengers.

- kick ass rickup games as local Boston ice rinks
