Sonics Wipe Out Weiss

Good move Seattle!

After not aggressively trying to keep coach Nate McMillian or anyone else on their 2004-2005 roster [well, they did keep Jesus Shuttlesworth], the Sonics settled on Bob Weiss to be their guy this year.

The same Weiss that couldn't get it done anywhere else he was been.   Then they have the nads to blame it all on him?  Weiss is a darn good assistant coach who has been with Seattle for 10 years.  The players [read: Ray Allen] liked him...he knew the plays...and he was cheap.

This, apparantly, was the final stage in a five-year plan to get the Sonics back to the elite status they enjoyed a decade ago.  M'kay.  Did that plan include watching Antonio Daniels leave?   Jerome James leave?  Oh, wait...that was a smart move.  But they let Nate McMillian leave...which was the dumbest move of all.  Also, they've screwed up Vlad Radmanovic....not corraled Danny Fortson... did nothing to improve their bad defense...and a slew of roster moves that have riled up players [of course, when a coach fears he will be fired, he's going to do whatever it takes to win games].

Now, assistant Bob Hill takes over as coach.  Hill is best known for helming the Spurs in the mid-1990s when they won two Midwest division crowns.
