TO Gets KO'd.....for now

                       Terrell Owens

Owens has turned the Eagles camp into a nightmare.

Despite easily winning the NFC East division....and winning the NFC Championship....and heading into the 2005 season as the favorites to do both again....the Eagles are in shambles.  And Owens is a major reason why [not the only one, though].  He's divided the team into Owens' people and Donovan McNabb people.  He's made Eagles camp into a circus.  He practices for a day...gets hurt the next.  Is he faking?  Who knows.  Now he's kicked outta camp.  And the toughest part is that the Eagles kinda-sorta-really need to deal with it since they are very thin at receiver.  It is important for them to have Terrell Owens in the fold, at least for this year.

Instead, we have news footage of Terrell Owens lifting weights and doing sit-ups in front of his beautiful home [that he doesn't get paid enough for, I guess], saying "no comment" to reporters.  He gets a week off while his teammates keep busting their tails in Bethlehem.

Both are stuck with each other.  There is no way the Eagles are gonna give him what he wants.  First off, it sets a bad example of whining to get your new deal.  Especially since they are hard lining Corey Simon and they waited out Brian Westbrook's 1-week holdout.  They won't release him since he has trade value.  And they won't trade him because no one else wants to deal with this crap either.  This far into the offseason, there is no money left for a guy like Owens.  Not to mention that Owens knows that this team did go to 3 consecutive NFC title games without him...and made last year's Super Bowl run without him.

The sad thing is the Eagles planned for this occassion.  They put into TO's contract that he would have to repay some of his signing bonus if he does something "detrimental to the team".  A fight with the coach may qualify.  So they do have an option to ask for some cash back....but that certainly won't smooth relationships between the team and Owens.

The saddest thing about it all is....why now?  As I said, the Eagles are the favorites to win the NFC East and get to the Super Bowl.  They played well in Super Bowl XXXIX that there are some good vibes coming into 2005.  And Owens ACTUALLY got some respect from his haters in that Super Bowl.  Having such a great game in such a short recovery time is outstanding....and I, for one, applaud his effort.

But it's all down the toilet now.  As a Redskins fan, I find it very amusing [hey, I gotta have something] that the lone NFC East team without a ring is blowing it right in front of our eyes.

I am so tired of hearing about TO and his contract.  It amazes me that this has been reported daily for the last few months when there is usually nothing to report.
I agree with you that Owens got some respect for playing and playing quite well in the Super Bowl. But after looking back after this fiasco, he has a dire need to be in the spot light. Who does abs in his mansion's driveway, just to say no comment? That made me laugh. After losing the Super Bowl it was not a TO that was upset at losing the game, but a TO that was "I told you I could do play."
I believe that if TO comes back he will contribute, but the damage to this team is already done and everyone in the NFC is applauding his latest "look at me move."

Spot on Remmy.  Everytime I turn on ESPN or ESPNews...there is a little blurb with Sal Palintonio talking about Owens daily routine.  Whether it is "not talking to the media", "shooting hoops in the parking lot" or getting into this argument [which is news worthy].  For a team this talented, they've got a lot of problems.

Thing is, they are still better than everyone in the East....and virtually everyone in the NFC.  I don't see why they are all doing this.

Since it is a desperately important situation, maybe Philly can get Donovan McNabb to come over and vomit in TO's yard.

HEy Sportz, everyone keeps sayin that TO was suspended but he wasn't. He was excused. BEing suspended means that the Eagles have the right to revoke money from TO if he is suspended which he wasnt. I personally want TO to come back. He was a huge reason why we went to the bowl and if he doesnt come back then Greg Lewis will be our #1, Uh Oh. He will end up playing in Philly so watch out for Philly in the Bowl once again.

terrell randy and michael have FUN. sourpuss white would-be pattons don't have fun.

eagles (and colts) are declining anyway.

Trade him for what you can get for him and cut your loss.  The guy will be problem as long as he remains in football, and I, for one, hope that is not very long.  Too much ink and airtime has been wasted reporting his antics.  Forget about TO and play football.
