Best Pre-Race Invocation Ever!!!!

This has to be the best pre-race invocation ever.

Pastor Joe Nelms of the Family Baptist Church delivered the invocation before the Federated Auto Parts 300 Nationwide Series race in Nashville, Tennessee. This is something straight out of Ricky Bobby's mouth.

The best part? When he thanks the Lord for his "smokin' hot wife". Beautiful!!!

Not irreverant at all; who says an invocation can't bring enthusiasm, smiles and laughter? That's ONE invocation they'll never forget.

This so-called "prayer" is typical of the flipant, vain, and entertainment mentality that governs much of religion today. If it is not irreverant, what would the preacher have to say and do to make it irreverant?

gthat was the stupidest prayer i have ever heard from a preacher. i know you was trying to bring a little comady to life but that is not the way..people r taking the lord too much for a joke an they need to wake up.churchs an people need to remember what the bible is an start back living it if they really want a christen life. people are too worried about money an glamor to really live a true christen life..you need to do some soul searching on yourself.. made god bless you and you will b in a lot of prayers

This was the most motivational Pre Race Prayer I have ever heard in my 45 years of being a NASCAR Fan. Joe Nelms brought attention to the Good Things in life that we should be thankful for, not just for the bare necessities that we need to survive.
He got more people to think about God and Prayer and Church than any other Preacher at a Sporting event that I can ever remember watching over the last 45 years...hey millions are still talking about it 5 days later all over the World Wide Web and all the News and Sports Channels on TV.

I feel that this prayer shows that our god had a sense of humor too.And with all the horrible things that are going on in our world, God needs a good laugh to.

I feel that the prayer only shows that our god has a sense of humor. And in these horrible times God needs a good laugh too. I have never heard of anyone going to hell for enjoying a good laugh.

I am a DEVOUT born again Christian right-wing conservative old lady. so nothing gets gets past me that doesn't get more scrutinized in right and wrong, good and bad. I'm not tolerant of evil, I don't have an 'open' mind to controversial things. so my opinion on this is with brutal scrutiny. I thought it was one of the most WONDERFUL prayers I have heard in a loooooong time. Thank You Pastor!! God bless you. and Thank You LORD!!
